Business incubators and accelerators in Saudi Arabia: guide and admission
An incubator gives you space and mentoring in your early stages; an accelerator is a short, intensive programme that provides funding and an investor network, often in exchange for equity. This guide brings together active programmes with their application status as we observed it.
Incubator or accelerator?
Monsha'at defines an incubator as an entity that provides workspace, business development, mentoring and training to help startups reach funding within a set period, and an accelerator as an intensive 3- to 6-month programme that provides funding and links with investors in exchange for an equity stake [1].
Monsha'at incubator licensing
Monsha'at licenses incubators and accelerators in three types: incubators and accelerators, virtual incubators, and co-working spaces. The service is free and issued instantly, and its requirements include a business plan, an engineering layout of the spaces and a CR [1][2]. We found no published official directory of licensed incubators, so verify any incubator's licence by asking it directly.

What do programmes usually ask for?
- A working minimum viable product (MVP), and evidence of early traction such as customers or initial agreements.
- A team of two or more founders, with one full-time in some programmes.
- Not being in another accelerator at the same time.
- Intellectual property rights or a licence to use them if the technology comes from a university.
- A plan to enter the Saudi market, or an existing presence there.
- Some programmes ask for short videos presenting the pitch and introducing the founders.
Typical stages: online application, then screening by a committee, then an interview (with a bootcamp in some programmes), then admission and the programme, ending with a demo day for investors.
Most programmes assess you on a short pitch covering the problem, solution, market, team and numbers. The Madrous comprehensive feasibility study includes the investor deck, financial model and business plan.
